Engineered to work, built to last

About BSE Australia

BSE Australia is an industrial electrical and automation contractor specialising in complex and compliance-critical environments. Established in 2010, we work across sectors including fuel terminals, chemical processing, manufacturing, utilities, government infrastructure, and food and beverage facilities.

Our team includes licensed electricians, engineers, system integrators, project managers, and hazardous area specialists. Based in Sydney and operating nationally, we deliver projects from early design and engineering through to installation, commissioning, and ongoing support.

A significant part of our work involves hazardous area compliance, process control systems, and regulated industrial installations. We are experienced in working to Australian Standards and in environments where safety, reliability, and documentation are essential.

Our services include:
• Industrial electrical design and construction
• Hazardous area compliance support
• PLC and SCADA systems from concept through to commissioning
• Automation upgrades and system integration
• Maintenance and optimisation work

We focus on practical, well-engineered solutions that are fit for purpose and delivered with clear communication and accountability.

Leadership Team

Adam Browne – Founder & Director

Adam is the Founder and Director of BSE Australia. With over two decades of experience in hazardous area electrical, automation, and industrial contracting, he leads the business with a clear focus on quality, accountability, and technically sound outcomes.

Adam is actively involved in both strategic direction and delivery, particularly on compliance-critical and high-risk projects. He is committed to building a capable, disciplined team that can deliver challenging projects efficiently, professionally, and with minimal disruption to client operations.

Gerard Topp – Lead Project Engineer

Gerard is a highly skilled Lead Project Engineer with a strong background in process control, electrical design, and automation systems. He oversees BSE’s engineering team and plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between engineering design and site execution, leading projects from detailed functional specifications through to SCADA logic implementation and final commissioning.

With extensive experience across food and beverage, chemical processing, and wastewater treatment industries, Gerard specialises in PLC/SCADA integration, I/O scheduling, and functional safety alignment, including SIL-rated systems. He is hands-on in the development of documentation packages, interrogation of control logic, and management of site-based testing and validation to ensure each system operates safely, reliably, and as intended.

Known for his meticulous attention to detail and practical problem-solving on high-pressure projects, Gerard is central to BSE’s ability to deliver technically complex, compliance-critical installations to a consistent and auditable standard.

Bill Palmer – Technical & Account Manager

Bill brings over 40 years of experience in electrical engineering, automation, and industrial business development. He began his career with a 4-year industrial apprenticeship at British Steel in South Wales and went on to hold roles as an Electrical Design engineer, PLC Programmer, Commissioning Engineer, and Project Manager before transitioning into technical sales in 1994.

Since 2010, Bill has worked as a Business Development Manager, combining strong commercial insight with deep technical expertise. His background across both large multinationals and agile specialist firms gives him the ability to understand client challenges and offer fit-for-purpose solutions that deliver value and performance.

Bill plays a key role in expanding BSE Australia’s client base and supporting long-term partnerships across manufacturing, infrastructure, and high-risk industrial sectors.
